Growing up in Toronto, Canada, Rachel Skarsten had no idea she was going to wind up starring in a huge television series such as her current day job as the youngest member of the chicks-only crime fighting trio on the WB show Birds of Prey. "From the time I was three years old, my life was all about ballet," explains Rachel. By the time she was a teenager, Rachel had traded in her tutu for a pair of ice-hockey skates. Nowadays, she splits her time between training with her hometown team (Rachel is the goalie) and portraying Dinah on Birds.
"Ballet gave me the strength and the confidence I needed to play hockey," says Rachel. And now, hockey is giving her the skill she needs for her job as an actress. "There are a lot of stunts involved on the show," says Rachel. "Right now, I'm still playing the sort of damsel in distress, but hopefully I will be able to kick some behind soon!"
Find out what Rachel does with her free time...
"I'm going to hockey boot camp soon. I jog in the summertime to keep my endurance... it's not very actor-like, but I love it just the same."
